Charity Link

Charity link works throughout Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire to help change the lives of over 5,000 vulnerable individuals and families each year.

Every £10 donated enables them to unlock £50 from charitable trusts and every single penny goes to help people and children in need.

Church Pharmacy contributed £2,500 towards their great cause as a part of our Church Pharmacy Cares campaign in May.

Leicester Charity Link's Gold Business Supporter Club

Church Pharmacy joins Leicester Charity Link’s Gold Business Supporter club.

As a proud Leicester-based business, we are honoured to support the Charity Link Proud Business Supporter Club, which brings together the business community in a great positive way to help others. As a Gold Club Member we help to provide thousands of pounds worth of essential items to ensure that local people in need have the basics in life that we all deserve, including food, clothing and bed.

Magical Christmas Event

Church Pharmacy donated £450 to support a wonderful event that allowed vulnerable families and individuals to experience a Magical Christmas at Curve theatre.

Families arrived to a very warm welcome to receive their tickets and show programme, a sweet cone for the children, before enjoying something warm to eat, hearing some fairy stories, entertainment from ‘Mr. Tumble’, making pictures in our craft area and hearing some lovely festive songs. Santa came to visit and presented every child with a selection box before guests watched productions of White Christmas or The Cat in the Hat.

Some of the feedback we have already received from guests is below:

“Absolutely blown away”

"Thank you for a truly amazing day once again! Lived up to the name a magical Christmas!"

“My children have never been to anything like this before”

“You brought laughter to my lips at a difficult time!”

Poverty Action Week Sleep Out

On 27th January, as a part of Poverty Action week, our Project Manager Anna took part in the charity sleep out organised by Charity Link.

She has never done anything like this before, but was happy to do it to raise money and greater awareness of the hardship that many homeless people are experiencing right now.

Charity link help people across Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire to have a decent standard of living, with a right to adequate food, shelter and the means to keep warm, clean and rested – no matter what crisis, illness, disability or difficulty they may be facing. The charity operates in a unique way whereby for every £10 donated, they can raise £50 from charitable trusts who are available to help – every penny of £50 goes to those in need.

"I am very grateful to Leicester Link who help people to move on from homelessness to independence. The sleepover was a challenging but truly insightful experience. I would like to encourage more people to participate in such events. If instead of noticing the hardship and ignoring it or being angry about it, we shift our paradigm and become part of the solution, it can bring great sense of belonging. Initiatives like that, not only help to make a real difference but also go a great way in helping us to be positive about where we live and connected to people in our communities. Special thank you to Church Pharmacy for their generous donation. It will help make tangible difference in local people's lives".

Supporting Local People

The kind donation of £1,500 from Church Pharmacy will support local people in need, including people affected by mental health issues, disability and chronic illness, helping to ensure that all local people have a decent standard of living and are able to fulfil their potential in life – no matter what crisis or difficulty they are experiencing.

Due to the unique way in which Charity Link works (for every £10 donated we can raise £50 from charitable trusts, all of which provides essential items), this gift will actually help to provide an amazing £7,500 worth of support! The items, such as beds, cookers, clothing, food and mobility equipment, will help to ensure that local people are warm, fed, safe and their dignity restored.

Charity Link finds funding for people in need at times of crisis or hardship. Last year Charity Link helped over 7,000 vulnerable people and children (including 1,236 people experiencing mental health issues and 1,361 people living with illness and disability) and raised over £800,000 in charitable funds – every single penny went to those in need.
