Having a baby is the most natural of events, and brings a huge amount of joy. It is a true miracle, but it is no walk in the park! As women, we wear the scars of birth well, but for those who have experienced a caesarean section, these scars can be more impactful. They cause discomfort or pain and, in some cases, can feel unsightly, which in turn can have a psychological impact.
NHS statistics report that 1 in 4 pregnant women in the UK will give birth via a C-Section. Scars may vary due to circumstance, skin type and individual healing properties, but many women suffer for years with tightness or discomfort.
Dr Ruri D Pamela, M.D. published a paper in the International Journal of Women’s Dermatology (Volume 5, Issue 4, September 19), combining CO2 fractional laser with CALECIM® Professional Serum. The subjects treated both had Fitzpatrick skin type IV and received a series of CO2 fractional laser followed by application twice daily of CALECIM® Professional Serum. The results post-treatment at 12 weeks showed significant improvement.
CALECIM® Professional uses Umbilical cord lining conditioned media (CLCM) which increases epidermal proliferation and has proven effective in the treatment of difficult-to-heal skin wounds. Applying a few drops twice a day enhances the skin cell rejuvenation and flexibility by promoting fibroblast and collagen formation. By adding this easy step, the patient experiences a quicker recovery time and better cosmetic outcomes.
