The Bike Project: One Year On

Church Pharmacy is proud to support The Bike Project, a remarkable charity dedicated to providing refurbished bikes to refugees and asylum seekers across the UK.

In November 2022, we initiated a community-wide effort to support The Bike Project by offering a collection service for individuals who wished to donate their old bikes but faced challenges accessing local drop-off points.

We're pleased this community service has proven popular, having enabled approximately 20 bicycles being generously donated to The Bike Project so far. These bikes, which might have otherwise remained in garages or sheds, are now being transformed into invaluable tools of empowerment and mobility.

Once refurbished by The Bike Project, these bikes have the potential to greatly enhance the lives of refugees and asylum seekers, by facilitating access to essential services such as food banks, legal advice, healthcare and education. They also play an important role in reducing social isolation and loneliness, whilst increasing social confidence.

If you have a bike that you’d like to donate, and you’re based in Leicester, please email Paul from Groby Scouts at thebikeproject@grobyscouts.org.uk or call 01530 260 062.
